We Present the First Ambulance with Copper Nanoparticles of the World.
As part of the Annual Meeting of the Association of Exporters of Manufacture and Services (in Spanish: ASEXMA) 2014, was unveiled the first ambulance of the world that was developed by Conversiones San José (CSJ) which uses copper nanoparticles in the glass-fiber that covers inside the emergency vehicles. This innovation allows eliminating up to 99% of germs, bacteria, and fungi.
Copper nanoparticles are in the surface of superior parts and sidewalls of ambulances. “They are equipped with this technology, we can guarantee that contaminated surfaces with bacteria will be sanitized, in order to prevent the contamination inside the ambulance”, explained the General Manager of CSJ, Enrique Allué Nualart.
“With our BioGelcoat or glass-fiber with copper nanoparticles, we help to eliminate a large percentage of agents which may produce infections and cause diseases, different from the original one that put the patient into the ambulance”, added Allué.
As well, he expressed that they decided to add copper nanoparticles inside the emergency vehicles because “ambulance operators are constantly concerned about the asepsis of their vehicles. Copper is a metal which will help to our users to improve the asepsis of their ambulances.”
The General Manager of CSJ said that the biggest benefit of this technology is to keep diseases under control which could be transmitted during the assistance of patients. “No doubt if we could incorporate surfaces that control the appearance of microorganisms in different stages of the emergency care, the spread of in-hospital diseases could decrease progressively.”
Moreover, the President of Asexma, Roberto Fantuzzi, pointed out the initiative which CSJ is developing in the context of the Annual Meeting of the organization. It was distinguished as a successful case in the improvement of the image of Chile abroad. “Our country is doing positive things. A clear example is the creation of the ambulance that has copper nanoparticles. This innovation adds a value that does not exist in the rest of the world. We are doing positive things.” said Fantuzzi.
He added “the manufacture of an ambulance that has copper nanoparticles is a complete success, because it is adding a value that our country did not have before, and at the same time, it is giving value to our land, which is copper… The only fact of incorporating copper to our ambulances avoids, in some way, damages to the human being’s health. It is terrific.”
The first ambulance developed with copper nanoparticles was made by CSJ, in cooperation with Nanotec Chile, which put its experience in the scientific work in nanotechnology applied to copper, gold, and silver. And in the certification of this development, such as unique in the world, it has the support of the studio Silva & Cia. which registered a patent for BioGelcoat, covering for ambulances and other surfaces with copper nanoparticles.
